Typology - Bugs from my Toolbox

A photographic typology is a collection of similar objects, shown in similar lighting conditions and then displayed together in a grid. The technique was popularized by Bernd & Hilla Becher, a husband and wife team of conceptual photographers.

As I had recently completed my ninth image, I turned them into a typology to celebrate that my project is now half complete. It took me at least a day of work to create each of these "bugs". I've actually finished a 10th (not shown here) and I have started #11. I've shown some. but not all of these before as single images.

These are, from left to right:

Top Row - fly, ant, dragonfly
Middle Row - rhinoceros beetle, praying mantis, mosquito
Bottom Row - spider, staghorn beetle, lady bug

    A great selection.

I'm not even tempted to throw a spanner in the works as you have enough already...

Very creative, Manfred. What is the name of the effect you used on the body of the bug in the lower right corner so I can google it? I accidentally produced it and have been trying to repeat it.

WHO ARE HILLA AND BERND BECHER?

Sorry Daniel, I'm not quite sure of what you mean about an effect. The results are just me playing around in post, usually through highly localized brightness adjustments (dodging and burning) as well as playing with the contrast both locally and globally.
