Back to the Bugs found in my Toolbox - Grasshopper

This is my 14th "bug" and am starting to think about at least 4 more.

This time I created a grasshopper and went with two different versions. I have included a bit more colour this time and would love some feedback if the version with the gray or red legs works better for you and why.

I like version 2, but how do the colours fit in with the rest of the series?

I'm struggling a bit with that myself.

When I started off the series, all of the tools I used were just a metallic colour, so the only colour in some of my original pieces comes from the gold finish on the drill bit I used. In my latest photography of tools, I introduced screwdrivers with their sometimes bright coloured handles and I am trying to find how to best integrate that look into the rest of the series.

What got me thinking was the wonderful and interesting colours that grasshoppers are, especially their legs.

    Hello Manfred,
Have you considered adding a real grasshopper to the image?

    All the best Bob

No I had not and I don't feel that it would work all that well as the two images would be in competition with each other. There are no grasshoppers around yet in this part of the world, even if I wanted to photograph them.

That being said, I am not a macro photographer and have no real interest in shooting insects, spiders, etc. So that's unlikely to happen. Even if I were, there are no rhinoceros or staghorn beetles in this part of the world and I would have to travel to Asia to photograph them.
