Spring comes to Wilton
I am not new to this site however I have not posted an image for a few years.
This splendid tree is in bud was spotted on a farm on the outskirts of the ancient town of Wilton near Salisbury.
I don't know why I planted the tree in the centre of the picture but I like it.

Re: Spring comes to Wilton
Very general composition advice is never have the main subject central and don't have sky taking up roughly half of the height. Use more or less sky.
But there are always exceptions and although that tree is central it isn't a symmetrical tree, so it is off centre to some degree. Also the background is different on each side so that also helps to give something of an off centre balance.

Re: Spring comes to Wilton
Thanks Geoff. I felt that the sky as a background showed the tree to its best, where as the trees below would to a degree dominate the main subject. I may be wrong.
