More optics
The first image is a wine glass that I have added a 60mm clear glass ball to and covered it with water. The glass is sitting on a black sheet of acrylic and a white translucent sheet acts as a diffuser with two gelled studio lights shining behind it.
The second image builds on the first. The same basic setup, but with a 100mm clear glass ball sitting on top of the wine glass. I have put a tall cruet behind it; the compartment that usually contains oil is filled with water and the internal chamber used to hold vinegar is empty (technically full of air). What you see is the reflections and refraction of the different objects interacting with each other.

Re: More optics
Love the second image, Manfred. While it is a rather uncomplicated subject set up, I am drawn in due to the wonderful detail in the resulting image. Well done!

Re: More optics
Having been firmly in the "less is more" category on your "Optics" journey, I now have to jump ship and say that I like second of these more than the first. There's such a lot of interest in the shapes, shadows and colours. Very nicely imagined and executed.

Re: More optics
Thanks Martin, Bill and Dan...
The first one falls foul of something Albert Einstein once said "Make things as simple as possible..but not simpler.". That one is too simple to work well.
I went back and pushed really hard in post and got this:
A bit more interesting, but still not something I particularly love.

It's gone from clean to muddy, in other words, backwards

Re: More optics
The second one is very imaginative.
