Raymond - shooting straight into the sun is challenging. Your second image suggests that you recognized some of the issues with your first image and made some corrections.

The full sun is going to overwhelm your camera's sensor and fool the camera's metering system into underexposing the scene. Chances are that the sun itself will be little more than clipped highlights as amount of light will overwhelm the sensor. Anything solid that the camera faces will be in shadow.

Your first shot also shows some sensor dust.

I generally do not shoot directly into the sun because I don't particularly like the effect. but many others do like it.

Regardless, the effects are what the photographers are after,, but you still need to have a well composed image. I'm not sure if this image is all that interesting once you take out what the sun has done for it.

Shining the sun into the lens will get the light to reflect off internal lens elements, which causes veiling flare. It can also introduce reflections and other artifacts; these can be used as compositional elements in an image, although they are not universally liked.
