Here is a different photo with (I believe) a better perspective. The thing I do not like about this photo is the background.

Yes, not an ideal background and it is framed a bit tight. However, this does work reasonably well for a difficult scene.

I agree--the background is a problem. Sometimes there just isn't a way around it: the background just won't allow a good image. This is a very serious problem with candids of kids, which I do a lot.

Bruce, a few comments on background... Images of vehicles often cause us problems because of the background...

Perhaps if you had moved a bit to camera right, the truck would not be as significant a part of the background as it is in your image... I think that the wall and garage door might be less distracting.

I am wondering if (perhaps combined with the suggestion above) if you were able to blur the background by using a wide aperture, moving closer/further from the bike...

You can select a subject in photoshop and blur the background: there are several choices illustrated in YouTube videos: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...hotoshop+2022+

Note, if you don't use Photoshop. perhaps there is a program you do use that can blur a background. Gimp is one that comes to mind:

Another way to improve the backgraound might be to cut the bile out of the image and place it on a different background.

That's what I would have done too. Actually, I would have made placed the camera more to the right closer to the ground. That would have made the bike bigger. Then by shooting wide open it would be in focus while the vehicle would be in blurred and smaller. Big bike versus the big 4WD pickup (that's what I'm guessing it is). Also maybe shoot later in the day to get softer light/better shadows. Anyway, that is my opinion.
