Too much uninteresting road. You could crop away about half of the road with a similar amount from the left side to create a stronger scene.

Otherwise, this looks good to me.

That is much better, Bruce, although the rod tip is now a bit close to the right edge. I would have been willing to allow a fraction more road to remain in order to give a little more space there.

Cropping, and original framing of a scene, is always variable and compromises usually have to be made.

Two other points about the image as presented here:
1. The background house seems to indicate that the image could be straightened by a small clockwise rotation.
2. The title indicates that the subject is the fisherman and his rods, but the background house is distracting the viewer.
Perhaps after the rotation a more severe crop might work.

Looking better, Bruce. I am not overly concerned about the houses because, although that tends to create two points of interest, it does give a bit of context to the scene. Maybe slightly tone down the house brightness though.

It is a scene with many options so it will be up to you to try a few variations then go with whatever most pleases you.

It is, Bruce, but I think you should also apply Geoff's suggestion to remove more of the road.
