    Young Man, Old Theater

I took this photo last summer in the Bronx. I liked the background, so I asked a passerby to be my subject. I don't remember his name, but it turns out he had a camera in his bag and was just starting to learn photography. I darkened the glass on the ticket booth and lightened the darker side of his face, and made a few global adjustments in photoshop. Comments welcomed.

I like it very much. Good Shot.

I reckon, rather than Square Format, it would better suit Rectangular Framing - Portrait Orientation: such would "ground" the Subject's feet, providing more stability and authority.

Also, (maybe a pet peeve of mine having being taught by many, and one being a (famous) Pommy Wedding Photographer) - never crop at a limb joint.

I still like it a lot.

Thank you, Bill. I tried different crops, including a vertical portrait. I tend to come in close simply because I can see the subject better. I have some full length shots, which I'll revisit. I'm glad you liked it.

For me, the right side gets to be a distraction, and the top right corner is becoming soft. So I would try some form of closer crop. Maybe end up with something like 4 x 5 ratio?
