    Sunrise on Manitoba Bay

Hi all! Long time, no talk to. I had the good fortune to have the use last week of a relative's cabin in Canadian Shield country. Most of my lake time is spent on the prairie, on the shores of the inland sea that is Lake Winnipeg, so it is a real treat to have the opportunity to experience this other, very different geography. As I am rather weak and out of shape because of the chemo (which, btw, is working), I just used the big gear in and around the cabin and relied on my iPhone to capture the sights beyond.

Anyhow, these are a couple of images captured within minutes of each other on my last day. Both were shot with the Tamron 24-70 mm on the Nikon D500 and I took a different approach processing each one. C&C welcome.

Janis Glad to hear you are improving. If I can be picky, I don't like horizons in or near the middle, it splits the photograph into two

Nice to have back with us Janis, and with a couple of nice pictures, but the highlight of the post is to know that the chemo is doing its thing!

    All the best, Bill

Glad to hear things are looking up.

Nice images. I prefer the first. IMHO, it contains more interesting detail.

Thanks, Bruce, Roy, Bill, and Dan. Roy, I hear you, but I will often break that midline rule when there is a reflection to be taken advantage of.

Bill, yes, the chemo is working, and I am still trying to facilitate remission. What is more important is that I am much better prepared now to accept whatever may come.

Re horizons in the middle: my own view is that one should put the horizon wherever one likes it. I usually avoid the center, but sometimes the center seems right.

Not that long ago, I took a water reflection photo with the border right in the middle because I wanted the symmetry of some geometric shapes. I entered it in a local club competition, and it got a very low rating because the split was centered. I then entered it in a much more competitive competition, a selection for a three-month temporary exhibit in a small museum. it was accepted for that. Go figure. No arguing over taste.
