Chateau Albert Hotel - Acadian Heritage Villiage

We are on our last day of our 2-1/2 week visit to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, on Canada's East Coast.

We had previously only spent one night in New Brunswick, but a fair bit of time in Nova Scotia, so we decided to visit a number of places in New Brunswick. One of our favourite places was the Acadian Heritage Centre, near Bertrand, New Brunswick. It is a large site and covers the heritage of the Acadian people, who immigrated to North America in the 1600s and beyond. The buildings on the site are either original buildings that were moved here or replicas of buildings. They span the period from 1770 to around 1940, so costumed interpreters from all these periods are here to give us a brief history lesson in either French or English.

The Chateau Albert is a working hotel from the early 1900s. People can book a room here (no WiFi or other modern conveniences), but by the time we found out about it, the place was fully booked, so we are planning to return...

This is a shot of the hotel; the light was terrible and my retouching capabilities while on the road are quite limited...

Worth a return trip Manfred, the light angle a later in the day would help this scene a lot, as I'm sure you already appreciate!

Totally agree Dave. Unfortunately, the place closes at 17:00 and is only open from June through mid-September. It is also an 11 hour drive (distance of almost 700 miles / 1100 km from home), so not something that is likely to happen very soon. We had brilliant and warm weather that was great for being on the beach, but not particularly great for photography. Chances are that this is as good as that image will get...
