    I like where you are going with your portraits, but I see two issues with this image.

    People wearing hats with a brim or baseball caps are virtually impossible to shoot with just one light. The brim is doing what it is designed to to; keep the light out of the subject's eyes, which means you have a shadow cast on that part of the face. For this type of shot, you virtually always need a second source of light (a fill light) to push some light into that part of the case.

    The second issue is what I mentioned previously; the catch light in the eyes suggests that you are using on-camera direct flash which is just about the least attractive way to light a person. The only time I use this technique is as a fill light in a shooting situations with no other viable options.
