    "Name that beetle"

A much more recent "what is it" shot. It is a small beetle (less than 5mm body length, but that's a guess, not an exact measurement). caught on a leaf in a small freshwater pond. Any advice on its name much appreciated.

Just a thought. Have a look at the Donacia family. In particular, I am thinking about Donacia versicolorea which is associated with pond weed.

Thanks Geoff. Yes that looks to be a likely candidate. The examples I saw online have red markings on the femora and tibiae and these are not visible on this one, but other than that (and size - it's a guesstimate but I don't think mine would hit the 5mm mark) it could well be a juvenile.
