Thread: What does the future hold? Why take photographs?

What does the future hold? Why take photographs?

I take photographs of birds mostly from the deck of my granny flat. Often I am surprised by what I capture. A case in point is this:

It is modern gear that allowed me to obtain this image. I have been taking photos for over 60 years. What do you think will be possible in say fifty years time?

If people still want a "photograph" in that future they will look at a scene, think about a creative composition, and it will appear as a 3D hologram or a hardcopy 3D print wherever they (or other viewers) choose to see what the "photographer" originally envisaged.

Just imagine a world where there are no distractions in photos.
In 50 years, old digital cameras will be the rage for the creative types who want to take non-AI photos.

Thanks for your replies Philip and Daniel. Maybe in the future there will be more emphasis on the framed print. Rather than have a 3D print the print remains nominally 2D but the image changes as the position of the viewer changes. The whole image will be in focus, and dynamic range will be total. I guess this would mean that only one person could view the 'print' at any one time but then perhaps not. How many 'cameras' would be needed to achieve this I'm not sure.
