Perhaps cropped a bit tight at the top. I like the lighting around the eyes, many would be tempted to lighting the eyes a bit more. I don't think that is needed here.

The tight crop at the top was done on purpose to move the eyes higher in the frame. I often crop into the hair in my portraits for aesthetic reasons. Personal taste is at play here and there are some "rules" on how to do this to minimize distractions.

Hello Manfred,
Very nice portraits from a part of the world I've never visited. Although they all work well as portraits only the girl getting into the boat provides me with some feeling for the world these people live in. The two finger salute of the girl reminds me of my time in China. It was normal for students I photographed to give the 'V' for victory as opposed to the reverse for 'up ya bum' gesture.
Anyway I look forward to seeing more portraits and images of this region of India.
