Donatella
Donatella is a four and a half year old Mini Goldendoodle who has always lived in a breeder's kennel. She will have been with us for a week tomorrow. If a dog doesn't receive human attention early on - it takes a lot of work to socialize them. Donna never received that type of attention. Breeders really get me angry when they ruin a dog's personality. When we bred Maltese, they were always members of our family. The least a breeder could do is to handle the dogs and give them some love.
Donna did not eat for the first two days she was with us. I convinced her to eat by feeding her bits of broiled chicken by hand. She now wolfs down her bowl of food twice daily. We are giving her a variety of foods to stimulate her appetite,
She has fallen in love with my wife and follows her everywhere. She lets me pet her and will come to me if she thinks I have that wonderful chicken. She allowed our friends kids to pet her. We found out that she likes to play fetch with a ball.
She was great during her photo shoot!
We will keep her as long as we need to and work to socialize her and make her a normal dog.

Re: Donatella
Each day Donna is getting better and becoming more relaxed. Tonight she took a treat for the first time and loved it. That will be a reward now when she learns new behaviors.
My wife posted a triptych of the above two images plus this one on the Maltese Rescue California Facebok page.
We got over a thousand hits during the first few hours it was posted.

Donatella Adopter by...
Donatella is a special needs dog and she has bonded closely with Judy. We have decided that keeping this girl with us would be the best way to ensure her a happy normal life so, we have adopted her.
Here she is with Duke, my daughter's dog.
I actually shot this to test the color balancing of the Spyder Checkr Photo. The light in the room in which I shot this is overly brown - because the light brown walls reflect the light. The Color Checkr seems to work just fine.
