I've recently bought a MIOPS Smart+ trigger and have just started to experiment with it.

Right now I am experimenting with the optical triggering functionality, where I have a laser pointer aimed at the trigger. When something breaks the beam, I can have the camera or flash fire and can add a time delay to allow some of the events to unfold.

So far I have experimented by dropping a plastic ice cube into a glass of water, and while it creates an interesting mess to be cleaned up afterwards, the technique does have some potential. The device can be used in other modes (triggered by lightening, thunder (and other noises).

I foresee weeks and months of experimentation ahead....


This is a fairly crude and unrefined edit of the results. As usual, post-processing will play a large part in my workflow. I think....
