I kept the last bouquet of roses that I bought a little longer than I should. So I thought that I would get a photo out of it.

A strong image Andre. I have a friend who does a lot of dried flower photography and he tends to shoot on a white background. That is something that you might want to play with as it gives an entirely different look that is also very effective.

Like this a lot Andre. It works well with the black background but if you get a chance perhaps have a go with a white one - I think it's a matter of personal taste rather than an objective issue but it would be nice to see.

Nice shot Andre. Just wondering about the lighting setup. One flash off to the side? How do you get a perfect black background.

I have periodically tried to use a white background with my flower pictures but so far I have not been very successful. With the exception of this iris photo, they always seem to come out looking overly clinical. I have not given up completely; one day I might discover what the problem is.

I used a LED spotlight behind a diffuser slightly above and roughly 45 degrees to the left of the flower. Both the diffuser and the camera were about 3 ft from the flower. The black foam core background was located about 10 feet behind the flower and was not lit.

I like this a lot.

I too have fiddled with a white background for flowers without good results, but just this afternoon, I found my white background, and I'll experiment more.

The strong colour of the iris should make it quite suitable for a white background but it doesn't quite "work" for me.
