Another handheld macro test

Still testing what I can do with macro with my R6.

Today we had an Itoh peony from our garden on our kitchen table, so I decided to try to do a handheld macro using the camera's focus bracketing. I had some support: I rested my elbows on the table. I am still fiddling with the parameters (how many shots, what increment), but I think it will be useful. The image below was composited from 27 shots using depth mapping in my standard stacking program, Zerene. (I had set the camera to save the stack but not create a JPEG composite.) The increment was too small, so I had too many photos (no harm in that) and probably should have gone a little further back. Nonetheless, I was impressed: between the superb IS and the software's ability to adjust for minor differences in alignment, the stack worked.

The images were taken with a 100 mm lens. 1/30, f/6.7, ISO 1600.

The image was otherwise minimally edited because it was just a test.

Part of one petal in the foreground is slightly out of focus but otherwise this is a stunning image. A tricky exposure has worked well.
