    Epson Legacy baryta II

Does anyone have experience with the new Epson legacy baryta II, or spec sheets for it? It sounds a lot like the original Canon and Epson barytas that were discontinued quite some time ago. Epson does not provide ICCs for Canon printers, but if it is like the original Canon baryta, I might pay to have a profile created.

    Thanks

    Dan

I've heard that it is very similar, if not identical to Canson Baryta Photographique II, but am planning to try it once I use up my Canson paper.

I have not tried it yet.

Thanks. Please post once you know. It would make sense that it's similar to the Canson Baryta Photographique II, since the discontinued Epson and Canson barytas were from the same mill and very similar. My interest is mostly the surface. I don't like the almost smooth surface of the Canson Baryta Photographique II. I much preferred the slide E-surface on the original.

Turns out that Marc Segal has reviewed it: https://photopxl.com/epson-legacy-baryta-ii-paper/. In the Photopxl forum (https://photopxl.com/forums/topic/ep...acy-baryta-ii/) he had this to say:

he Baryta II surface texture has slightly more “tooth” than the original Legacy Baryta, and is slightly warmer. But the differences are subtle.

Much more obvious, the Canson Baryta Photographique II is smoother and flatter than Legacy Baryta II.
Nonetheless, he refers to it as F-surface.

He rated whiteness as 92; Canson says that Canson Baryta Photographique II is 95.3. The Epson has no OBAs; Canson is "very low"

    Re: Epson Legacy baryta II

Thanks Dan - I checked at all my usual paper sources and there are very limited quantities and sizes available right now for Legacy Baryta II. In fact, the same can be said for much of the Epson Legacy line of papers.

I generally print 17" x 22" and both the sheet and 17" roll papers do not appear to be in stock at either Epson Canada or Epson USA. I'll keep my eyes open over the next few months and try to grab some when it shows up again.

I missed Marc's review; it came out when I was traveling in India back earlier this year, so I missed it.
