    HEIC files in ACR

According to Adobe, ACR can open apple HEIC files. My copy (version 15.3.1.1455) does not. According to Adobe, this is handled by the following setting in ACR preferences:

File Handling > JPEG, HEIC, and TIFF Handling
That setting doesn't exist in my copy. The relevant section reads:

    JPEG and TIFF handling
Does anyone know how to turn this function on?

Dan I have that version of ACR installed on my pc and my Mac. Opening heic files only works on the Mac version.

The first version of file handling you quote is seen on the Mac and the second version of file handling you quote shows up on the pc.

    Dave,

Thanks. I now see an Adobe page that says that for Windows, "Download the HEIC and HEVC support tools from the Microsoft Store." that wasn't on the page I found before, which presumably assumed that this had been installed.

Interesting, I just had a look in the Microsoft Store for these tools and found a plethora of apps relating to HEIC. If you find the right one would appreciate getting the name.

I may not bother. I found a work-around for the three I had to deal with. If I end up needing to deal with this again, I'll look at what's available.
