    Fire and dance

    At the Urbaka festival in Limoges, a spectacular performance with great bursts of flame from time to time which even at 3 stops under ex, overwhelmed the sensor. Should have gone for 4 or 5 stops down.

    Here is one of the more tranquil moments that worked OK at -3 stops.

    Nicely captured in a challenging shooting environment. There is not a lot of light to work with and there is always a danger of the flames being clipped during capture. I wonder if a tighter crop might be worth considering?

    There is a lot more fine detail to be found in the Lightbox view. Looks good.

    Maybe a slight crop from the top and left side but don't go too close because your subject needs a bit of space. There is a slight light flare reflecting from the window which I would remove.

    Here's a couple more. Quite a bit of burnt out highlight in both, but the great bursts of flame were totally unpredictable and I was lulled into thinking that -3 stops was enough headroom. Wrong !!!

    @geoff, thanks for the comment.
    However we are totally outside here. What looks like a window is in fact sky, the space between the cathedral wall and a lamp post. The flare is ???, part of the milky way perhaps ?

    An excellent set of images, I think you've managed to capture the essence of the the event very well.

    Awesome images. Each one. Despite your depiction of imperfect technical aspects, the stories and beauty remain and that is sometimes all that matters. Just My Opinion
