    Basil seed / Mango Drink

Playing around with basil seeds again in some bright field lighting work.

I like it - not sure why but yellow is always a cheerful colour. The composition/organisation of shapes also works for me. Happily clinical.

I like it. A yellow sphere contrasting nicely against the angles.

Nice one Manfred, well managed light as ever.
However, a bit picky perhaps, but for me the yellow sphere lacks depth, it looks flat like a disc (though perhaps that was the intention ?)

Thanks for the comments Paul, Ole and David.

David - agreed with the flatness of the light on the ball. That is primarily due to the very flat light I used (a softbox with two baffles and a piece of translucent Plexiglas) and aggressive post processing (high contrast adjustment layer which eliminated the minimal subtleties in the light going through the ball).

I made a few changes and took another shot, which is better, but not quite there yet. I am looking to add a gelled snoot behind the ball to see what that does for me, as well as removing the baffles and possibly going with two hard lights.

    This is the newer shot.

I like the increased contrast in the liquid and the straw moved to the left. I think that the sphere's outline is improved but I think that the center of the sphere needs to be like in the first image. That is only my opinion though.

I prefer the original. It's just a bit more subtle.
