That's OK Roy. I do appreciate you expressing your view. This is what I started with. It never fully worked for me. I find the composition version more interesting.

The first image isn't quite working for me either.

Possibly stick with the original image and try a fairly high contrast monochrome but not quite as severe as the fist image?

The first image has a very graphic look to it, rather than a photograph. I suspect that is what you were trying to accomplish here.

Book covers, graphic novels, etc. will go for that "look".

I like the graphic look, however, all the grey upper left corner does not work for me. How about cloning the white part onto it?

Exactly! I also considered text placement.

I had a version as you described, which I used to create the graphic. I was pleased with it but felt it lacked the oomph to stand on its own.

Not a bad idea but I'm inclined to leave it as is. Just too many variables. If there was a specific intention for the image then I would alter it to suit its purpose. As it stands the purpose of my images is solely for my own amusement and to take up space on my hard drive. Cheers to you too, Ole

A good "rule of thumb" is that when the composition / capture is not working, extra heavy-duty post-processing is not going to fix the image.

That seems to be the case in both of these images.

Exactly! They are what they are. This is not about fixing an image but creating something new. Whether it is appealing or not is a matter of personal taste. I kind of like it. . Thanks for commenting

    Re: Conflict

I like this image ! I mean the first one.

Maybe because it is aggressive and maybe also because it is contemporary, so current, at this moment in which on the planet there are so many conflicts.

A kind of trap awaits the armed man with blood on his body, in his soul for sure, and ready to continue his relentless and inexorable devastation.
