    Fill-flash simulation with iPhone

I don't enjoy shooting images with my iPhone and the only time I ever use that phone for photography is in an emergency - like recording the results of an auto accident.

Instead, I use a mirrorless camera and I will always have a flash attached to that camera and will most often use fill-flash when shooting images outdoors. Since I live in Southern California the sun is bright most of the time and the flash will fill in the shadows. IMO - the fill flash will often improve the general quality of my imagery.

My wife only shoots with her iPhone and I notice that her images would often benefit from the use of a fill-flash. Sure - we can work on those images in Photoshop but, I much prefer to get an image correct in-camera (in this case I guess you would call it, "in-phone")

Is there any way that the iPhone can simulate the use of fill flash outdoors?

If you turn the flash setting from AUTO to ON how does the picture come out ?

The flash of the phone is so tiny and underpowered that it doesn't seem to do much good over a couple of feet away. It's even worse than using the built in flash of the mirrorless or DSLR camera.

However, she is unwilling to go through any effort to improve her phone imagery, when she shoots them. However, she is willing to work for hours to try an fix the images she shoots with her phone.

My wife will keep banging her head against her iPhone images trying to do in Photoshop what could easily have been done in-camera if she was willing to carry a camera.

The only way an iPhone can use fill flash is if you have a Profoto strobe with AirX in it (say, an A10 speedlight) with the Profoto Camera app. Not that affordable a solution.

Phone cameras can't do strobe otherwise, so you're stuck with continuous light sources like LEDs (i.e., the built-in "flash"), which are, of course, going to be a LOT more underpowered. I think the closest you might get is to use HDR mode, or maybe an LED puck light (Godox R1? [the R1F never came out and Profoto C1/C1 Plus were discontinued]).

Mods Edit - The post which contained the language, correctly noted below as offensive, has been removed, as has the copy of it that was inserted here.

That’s gratuitously and inappropriately nasty. If you hate disparaging people, don’t.
