    A few night shots

I went out last night to do a little night photography, which I hadn't yet done with my new mirrorless camera. It required a little adaptation, but not too much. Here are two very quick edits, both composites of focus-bracketed shots (3 images). I don't have LR enfuse installed on my new computer yet, so I use Lightroom's merge-to-HDR, which I have found to be inferior in terms of accurate color rendition.

    Comments welcome, as always.

Great shots Dan - good composition and lighting and the noise control is very good.

Nice set Dan. All good, with the first being my favourite.

Thanks for the comments. Re noise: I usually keep my camera at ISO 100 for night photography, although I occasionally go a little higher, usually only to 200, if I need that to avoid setting longer intervals via bulb mode. These are all at 100. I have a few in this batch at 200 because I needed a tad more speed to do three-image brackets while not exceeding 30 seconds. For shots where bracketing isn't needed, it's pretty simple to dial in the longer time on the camera, but it's a nuisance when bracketing.

Hello, Dan. I really loved #2. The colors, composition and PP works really well here, IMHO. You nailed this one! Would you please share the exif? Kindest regards,

    Otavio,

This was a blend of three images spanning a little less than 4 stops, and I discarded the originals after creating the composite. LR keeps the exif from one of the three. That was ISO 100, f/9, 6 seconds. I bracketed with shutter speed, so all three were ISO 100 and f/9.0. I think LR may keep the exif of the middle exposure.

Dan, I particularly appreciate the black and white photograph, although I also find the coloured ones to be wonderful !

Thanks, Dan, for the info. I was particularly curious about the shutter speed, as it looks like a long exposure but the cars over the bridge were not blurred. Probably you waited for the red traffic lights!

    Again, very nice job!!

    Re: A few night shots

Thanks, all. I hadn't done any night photography for a long time, so apart from the cold (maybe 4 Celsius with a stiff wind), it was really enjoyable to get out and so some.
