Photoshop's beta AI-based photo restoration
A friend recently gave me a bunch of old, small, badly damaged prints to try to restore. I did them manually, with mixed results, depending on how badly and in what way they were damaged.
I then decided to go back to the original scans and try Photoshop's beta photo restoration "neural" filter. It didn't do well with the really badly damaged originals. However, I then applied it to the results of my manual restorations, and it improved all of them, one or two a great deal.
If you do restorations at all, I recommend playing around with this.

Re: Photoshop's beta AI-based photo restoration
I fully agree. AI is having a significant impact on all aspects of our lives, and this impact will only increase in the coming years.
Automation is increasingly replacing human labor, which is leading to unemployment. However, it is also creating new jobs that require new skills and competencies.
Neural filters are one of the many innovations that AI is bringing to the world of photography within CC. They are still under development, but they have the potential to revolutionize the way we edit and share photos.
As for photo restoration, it is a process that requires a lot of patience and attention to detail. It is a job that I do not have the patience to do, but I admire those who do it.
Cheers !
