Re: Trips to Uzbekistan; will bringing tilt-shift lenses be worth it?
Re: Trips to Uzbekistan; will bringing tilt-shift lenses be worth it?
Thanks
At first glance I thought there was a slight pin-cushion distortion, noticeable on the line of tiles in the foreground; but it seems on close inspection that the ground is not level but is slightly curved, downward from the centre, possible for water drainage.
The diverging verticals are easily fixed.
The camera viewpoint seems a bit to the left of centre of the two white RSJs, again which can be 'fixed'.
Have fun with the lens.
Very crisp shot for 1/60s Shutter Speed, was the camera supported?

Re: Trips to Uzbekistan; will bringing tilt-shift lenses be worth it?
Thanks for the comment. I just wanted to play with the lens while waiting for the train to Narita. Didn't really think much about composition. I'll try to find something more interesting today; it's been snowing for days and in some parts of Tashkent the temperature is forecast to drop to -10 C (14 F) which is extremely cold for someone used to temperate climate of Tokyo.
I think IBIS is working very well with the lens. However, the combination of the camera, the lens, and the Rogeti frame feels very heavy in my hands; I feel unconfortable playing with the shift lever with my left hand while handholding the camera with just my right.
As you can see in the EXIF data, the lens' attributes are also properly recorded. Nice job, Metabones. Maybe I made the right decision by choosing this lens instead of the Laowa one.
Re: Trips to Uzbekistan; will bringing tilt-shift lenses be worth it?
I'm back in Japan with a severe cold :(
I didn't use the tripod at all, so that's 6 kgs worth of deadweight I carried around for nothing. I didn't use the Rogeti frame, either.
Anyway here are the results.

Same place as previous picture, fully shifted up. Is it just me or does it look very unnatural? The previous picture looks more natural to me.
Re: Trips to Uzbekistan; will bringing tilt-shift lenses be worth it?
All in all, I liked the experience. It was difficult to rotate the knob to shift up while handholding the camera because of course, I was against gravity.
I might consider buying a TS lens if Sony ever comes up with one (not holding my breath). Laowa's lens is very expensive for a third-party, no-electrical-contact fully manual lens.
