That is a weevil, Les. Not strictly a beetle.

I would guess it might be one of the Otiorhynchus family but there are a lot of them and they are difficult to fully identify. You could have a look at Otiorhynchus crataegi but it really requires microscopic examination for identification.

Thanks Geoff i just found it a clay coloured weevil
