    Children's Book - Toolbugz

The Mixam website has functionality to share the contents of a book produced by them.

While it is not perfect (letters are missing in the text, for instance), it does give a good overview of what the final product will end up looking like.

I started working in this book when my grandson was 5-years old, which lead to the creation of the "bugs". Early last year (January through February), when he was 6, we worked on the text. This year, I created the book.

While I like what I see, I am not thrilled with Mixam's service. The book was supposed to ship around April 16 and the latest ship date they have given me is now May 2...

This should give members a chance to see what we have put together. Text is by Kane (transcribed by his mother) and the images are my work.

    Enjoy...

This is really good Manfred. Congratulation to you and Kane.

P.S. I didn't realized before how the Japanese language can pack so much information in so few symbols!

Thanks André. I very much enjoyed meeting you and being able to chat in person yesterday at the Artist Talk at SPAO.

As for the Japanese, Kane insisted that we put the names of the bugs in Japanese so his two Japanese cousins will know what the bugs are. He wants me to send them a copy of the book.

    Thanks André, Rita and Dave.

Let me also say it was an exercise in patience. Five and six-year old children have the patience of a gnat (perhaps I should have included one of those in the book).

With Kane, video games, Lego, children's programming on YouTube, riding his bicycle and running around were his priorities. Working on pictures and text for the book with me, not so much. Five months for the artwork (first iteration) and two months for the text (final iteration), most of which was the result of having to wait for Kane to settle down enough to work with me.
