    Thanks Rob,

Funny you should mention that ... early in the new year I'll be shooting Melissa - a very toned late 20's girl (being her age, not her year of birth!). We're planning a bikini at the beach shot with the full generators / strobes / makeup / body oil treatment ... should make for a great calender shot.

Well, they certainly are a bevy of beauties, Colin. I'm sure they were thrilled with the pictures you came out with.

Thanks Elise - I don't think I've had an unhappy camper yet

Those are lovely. The light is always perfect and you make them all look great! Yes, inspirational. Which could pose a problem...Where were you the other night when I had my gang of girls over (a wee bit older than your models and was trying to remember what you had written about lighting... and then trying to manage it with a desk lamp on top of the piano for a hair light and someone holding a 60 watt floor lamp at an angle for some directional lighting If I get much more inspired by your posts and photos, the neighbours are going to come and cart me away to a place I don't want to go!

Ah, it's worth it. Inspire away!

I vote for Miss September... no, wait... Miss April... no, wait... [sigh] I'll have to read the interviews again.

All are lovely, and well done.

    Re: Sophie

Very nice, do you make wardrobe suggestions to the models or do you take them as is and choose a suitable backdrop to match their clothing?

And I'm sure you will look very nice in it Colin, provided you shave your pantie-line first. But how are her camera skills?

Yes... we look forward to that one...

    Hi Myra,

You reminded me of "early days" when I used to "illuminate" (technical word for "fry") my victims with 4x 500 watt tungsten work lights using cooking paper as a diffuser (before I got technical and started using a white sheet as a diffuser!).

Gosh it's nice having all the good gear these days

    Thanks Al,

It's been a busy year, but next year I must do better ... and more!

So many beautiful young ladies to photograph, so little time.

    Hi John,

It's something I discuss with them, but more to get an idea as to what they think they'll look good in (so I can be better prepared). At the end of the day, they know a lot more about what they look good in than I do. I do go over quite a few things with them before hand though ... even things that you probably wouldn't think of like "washing your face" and "not using too much makeup". Often the shots are life size or bigger and even just little flecks of loose skin are time consuming to repair. In terms of makeup, I find that models need a LOT less because people can study the photo and notice these things without it having to be over-emphasized.

Also covered is basic things like changing facilities - toilet location - what they're comfortable with - what they're not comfortable with. Obviously striving for a professionally run environment at all times. To be honest, the models are often more comfortable about certain things than I am (eg squatting down in front of the mirror to adjust makeup whilst wearing a mini-skirt, or bending over in front of the camera with a loose top). So sometimes it's a case of "oops - eyes above the horizon Colin", although to be honest, most of the time I'm just so damn busy setting things up that I actually have very little time with the models between sets. In reality we never come close to anything that's even as revealing as what you'd see in a hundred places on the beach though.

Thanks Rob. And her camera skills are fine.

You might even see some shots of her too if you're lucky

Oi ... not so much of the "young man" thank you ... I'll have you know I'm a card-carrying greypower member these days! (in my 50's).
