    Waiting to Cross

I found this going through my photos. I took it this past winter in midtown NY C. Most likely an out-of-town family. I like the mass of city energy before them.

They look a bit lost or overwhelmed. Good story telling image.

The top part of the image works, with all the all buildings against the night sky.

The bottom us overpowered by the bright areas that are mostly all clipped (blown out). This is also casting the people into a shadow, so opening those areas up might be worth considering.

I had seen a horse carriage go around this corner. I thought there might be others, so I sat in an outside seating area and snapped pictures of people crossing through the rising steam. I think the lower sitting angle helped the shot.

In this case, the original exposure works for me, I like it too.

The only thing that jars for me is the cut off traffic light (signal? in US), it's a shame that wasn't fully in the frame, although the then we might be saying those coloured lights right on the edge of frame are a distraction!
