A strong image, with a minimalist direction. All the negative space works well and the background colour complements the browning areas of the fading rose. I suspect a vertical format, rather than a square format would be worth considering.
Thanks Manfred. I pushed the screen view over to simulate how your suggestion would look - yes, it is a better framing.
Nice to see you working with the new camera!
I do like this. As Manfred suggest: vertical format.
Very nice - I like it as it is, but vertical 3/4 might work...
nice. I agree that vertical would be better than horizontal. But rather than try specific ratios, why not just try various crops free-form until you get what feels balanced to you? There are times when one is constrained to use one or another fixed format, but they are rare. I spent much of the past three days in three of the best art museums in the Netherlands— the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum, and the Kroeller-Müller in Arnhem— and the paintings were in all manner of formats.

Thanks and lucky you Dan - I love Amsterdam but most of my visits there were when I was young and in gainful employment and although I got to see the lot, it was a little often. On the one occasion when I was able to incorporate a free weekend into the trip there was a major operational delay with the airline - we lived in Florida at the time - and all my free time vanished.
I had no idea how superb a museum it is. It was suggested by a friend who lives in Arnhem. It has a superb collection and is free of the mobs one confronts at the other two (despite limited admission to both).
