    Abandoned Homestead, Gathering Storm....

I have been re visiting some older images of late since a series of unexpected medical setbacks last year have prevented much in the way of photographic excursions.
The attached image of an abandoned homestead in Vulcan County was captured at sunrise just before a downpour put the damper on things. Homestead dates back to the late 1920's
    C&C welcome......

Nice light in this shot, Len. I personally would like to see a bit more space on the right hand side, but that is hard to do after the shot has been taken.

Actually, adding more on the right with an image like this is trivially easy with Photoshop's generative expand. Just expand the image using the crop tool and tell Photoshop to generate an expansion. I expanded the area on the right just a little that way.

I think this is a nice image, but I would tinker to make the building stand out more. I selected the building and added both midtone contrast with a curve and "local contrast" (texture) with unsharp mask set to 50 pixels. I used selective color to bring out the reds in the brown wood and decrease the reds in the sky to increase color contrast. I then cropped a little off the top. The differences aren't dramatic. See if any of these directions are of interest to you.

Sorry to hear that medical things have been a hindrance this year.

Thanks Dan & Manfred for your comments. I believe that the appearance wooden clapboard would be enhanced with some additional contrast and texture as Dan suggests.
As far as medical issues are concerned - Hydropneumo thorax in July and again in October last year with ongoing issues.
    Thanks again.....

Nice image, even better in Dan's version I feel. However, the grey sky in the original adds to the sense of desolation.

Thanks. I like to photograph old wooden buildings, and it's one genre where I let myself have a little extra leeway in processing. I often exaggerate textures, contrast, and color contrasts somewhat to bring out the interesting patterns in the wood.
