Old Barn Window....
Another image from Vulcan County. I am intrigued by abandoned barns and homesteads that can still be found scattered around the prairie landscape. Time and the elements take their toll but in so doing create interesting photographic opportunities. This particular barn dates to 1927...
C&C welcome

Re: Old Barn Window....
I like this a lot. I share that interest, although in my case, there's no prairie, just old buildings.
If you don't mind, I'd suggest the same sorts of edits I suggested last time. I did a very quick and dirty edit, which I did the following:
-- add local contrast. I did this with unsharp mask in photoshop, but the texture slider in ACR or LR works well.
--I used a curve both to darken the light area at the top and to increase midtone contrast.
--I cropped a tiny bit from the top to make the image look more balanced.
--I used selective color, primarily to bring out the red undertones in the wood
--I sharpened it a little (using smart sharpen)
See if you like this this sort of changes. And please say so if you don't want people editing your images.

Re: Old Barn Window....
Dan, thanks for your comments and taking the time to make some edits. I certainly don't mind and it is interesting to see another photographers "interpretation" and incorporate that where appropriate.
Back in the day these barns must have been very colourful with red painted sides and yellow roofs. The wood on these old structures has often weathered to shades of grey but occasionally you find traces of the original colour.

Re: Old Barn Window....
I like it. I would be inclined to crop from the top. Maybe showing two and a half rows of roof boards on top. For me, there is some competition for viewing between the roof and window.

Re: Old Barn Window....
Thanks to Daniel & Raymond for their comments. I had not considered a B&W option - perhaps a viable option....

Re: Old Barn Window....
I like the original and also Dan's edit, however I feel he has gone a bit too far with the local contrast and colour. The edited version has much more punch, but this conflicts with the form which is of age and decay.
Perhaps just the crop and a wee bit of local contrast ?
