Project 52 week 11. Chasing spring
I haven't done any new photography this year other than some re-edits, a few table tops, and one photoshoot. But Spring and Project 52 forced me out for a walk in the nearby park yesterday.
Nothing struck me until on the walk back to the car I spotted a solitary primrose and fired off a few.

Re: Project 52 week 11. Chasing spring
I find primroses to be a difficult subject. It is so easy to overexpose the petals and lose that delicate yellow colour. Alternatively, under exposure turns the leaves and general background too dark.
So my alternatives are bracketed exposures or under expose for the yellow then editing with masks to produce a balanced result.
Down here, in the deep south, this has been a good year for very early primroses which have proved attractive for out of season insects.
Incidentally, there are two forms of wild primroses with different flower centres. The pin eyed has a pin shaped centre while the thrum eye has a rather larger conical shaped centre where long stamens conceal a short stigma. But they can cross breed.

Thanks Geoff. I'll have another go at the edit.
