Helped by a Street Vendor
While walking through the old section of Casablanca, I tripped and fell just a few feet from a woman’s vegetable cart. She and several others nearby came to my aid almost instantly, their concern evident. Thankfully, I wasn’t hurt, and with their help, I got back on my feet. Looking around, I pointed to what had caused my fall—a short pipe with one end covered in cement, likely an unnoticed street fixture for years.
The woman started to move it aside, but I assured her it wasn’t necessary. A moment later, she returned with a damp cloth, offering it to me so I could wipe off my soiled clothing from the rain-covered street. This small yet thoughtful act reflected something I experienced throughout Morocco: the generosity and hospitality of its people.
After thanking her, I captured the moment, taking a photo that, to me, embodies the warmth and community spirit that define this remarkable place.
