OK, all enthusiastic gardeners look away now! I am most certainly NOT in that category - my definition of "gardening" is cutting the grass in summer, but I do like cooking so a south-facing corner of what passes for my "garden" features some herbs.

A couple of expanatory notes - the bay tree was a heavily discounted half-dead plant less than a foot high purchased from a garden centre many years ago for £1 and has had to be cut back 3 times since then. The oregano is partly shaded by it and dies off at the start of winter but is in its Spring revival phase now, whereas the thyme (which is partly hidden by the lavendar bush) can be harvested year round.

All in all, I am astonished by how well these have fared in the face of less than optimum climatic conditions and care.
