    Excellent action shots, Rob.

A great pity that you lost the wing tip with the second photo; that would have been an absolute prizewinner.

Possibly though, if you cropped some of the sky from the bottom and left side of that image, it would appear to be better framed and the missing wing tip wouldn't be so obvious.

Yo, that second one is outstanding. The lighting is what makes it special. I am not a pro, but as well as Geoff's crop, I would be tempted to bring in the left hand side as well. It jars my mind to have the bird jammed to that side as I prefer a bird to be coming into the picture rather than leaving it but when one has such a marvellous shot, you just have to make the best of what you caught. A crop from the left would make the late photo less obvious. The eye would also then be in the 1/3s mark.

    To all,
Thanks for viewing and your thoughts.
I've worked on the one and added another one.
    Thanks again,

    Really amazing pictures, very spectacular.

And I really prefer the second crop on the 'side' view.

Oh Rob, that second crop does it for me and I see you did have the wing edge. That one is a photographer's dream catch. Well done.

I think the first one of the second round is stronger, but I wish you had done the same kinds of things you did with the lighting on the second one with it. They sky seems harsh on the first one, and the bird seems duller than it needs to be.

Edit: I changed my mind, I think the second picture is just as strong, because the fish itself works a lot better.

Yes that alternative crop works really well.

I do wonder if the 'new' photo has been slightly oversharpened, although that might just be the angle of light. But in all honesty we are just talking about the difference between an excellent photo and a guaranteed prizewinner.

How did you get so many shots? I would think the bird would be outta there pretty quick. Nice shots! I like the new crop of the second one.
