This was shot with 70-200mm f2.8 from a distance but with direct flash under very harsh sunlight. I think it came out not too bad (probably too bright for Antonio's taste?):

Alis, I am not a judge here and I don't think it is too bright. :)
On the contrary: you have made a good job with direct flash.:):)
Thank you for posting Alis. :)

Will it be this week-end this thread reaches 200.000 visits ? :)
These were shot with the 1,4 x converter/multiplier and the 70-200 f/2,8 IS. No monopod.

Thanks, Colin. I had seen them before I found the forums here. I don't remember what I was looking for when I discovered this site.
Anyway, I looked at them again just now. They are amazing. I assume if not all, most of them are HDR?

You'd have to confirm with Sean, but my understanding is that none of them are HDR (in the traditional sense of the word) (ie from multiple, bracketed shots).

His photos are very very exquisite. And beautiful.
But I don't think they are HDR...
Better: if they are HDR the procedure is so light that we can't see it clearly.
A very good work that's what it is.

One of my rare contributions.
http://www.pbase.com/dhumphries/imag...3/original.jpg
1/45s @ f5.6, ISO3200, 92mm, handheld, mixed lighting (window, tungsten and CFL)
Technically it's a train wreck, but let me have it all
Re: Square cropped portraits (SCPs) - please post them here
Thank you Dave for your contribution.:)
Please do it again when you wish.
We all like your pictures.
:)

You are being too nice!
(It must have been really bad - sorry)
I won't post them all here, but if you're interested, the other's I have done today are here, if you start there and click Next a few times.
The first one starts with the entire family, my sister and her family are nearest the camera, my wife and kids, plus eldest daughter's boyfriend the further away you get.

Dave, you made me laugh very much. :D:D
I didn't want to discourage you but you recognized that the picture is poor.:)
Unless... unless you were kind of provoking me, expecting my reaction.:)
OK. This time I didn't follow my bad character and I was hypocrite.:p Not a good way to behave indeed.
Dave, will you be a good/nice boy and post a good image now ?? :)
I saw you do have nice models... Just use them:)
We are all waiting for your images. :)
Regards. :):)

Hello Susan!
Thank you for posting this nice image.:)
And what do I like in it ?
Mainly the way you treated it. The way you gave this mood of half old picture... I can almost say that the photo could be shot during WWII.
I like the square of a window or whatever it is at the right upper corner. It contributes to balance the photo.
You have cropped nicely not cutting any of the elbows of the young lady who is looking up.
:)
More ??!!...:)

Interesting, I was actually thinking the opposite. I was wondering if it should be cloned. Interested to know why it is there actually and not cropped?
Susan?
Antonio?
And I agree with Antonio about the feel of the picture, I think it is the pose, the shirt she is wearing, and the blonde hair; pretty much everything in it I guess ;)

I initially thought the same thing Alis, but decided that the space above her head was needed and bizarrely, that I think it helps balance the direction of her eyes. Which is daft really because it obviously isn't what she is looking at.
Cheers,
