Re: Square cropped portraits (SCPs) - please post them here
Wonderful, Antonio!
This is one of those pictures you can put on the cover of you photobooks.
It reminds me of the famous picture of the Afghan girl!
And the lady is so beautiful despite the skin tells the story of harsh living conditions!
And you captured such a beautiful smile!
Re: Square cropped portraits (SCPs) - please post them here
Thank you Alis.:)
This again is another of those lucky shots. How comes ?
I was walking in a market shooting people. Sometimes they came at me asking to be photographed.
Suddenly she appeared in front of me and then I asked if I could take a picture. She was with a man and a child some 10/12 years old.
I was with the 5D and the 20D. The first with the 24-70 and the second with the teddy bear.
I had no preparation whatsoever. I just took the opportunity.
On the contrary - Steve McCurry a good and recognized photographer - had her posing for him.
He was able to choose the background and the best available lighting conditions.
Just look at his portraits number 5 and 6 witch I can't link unfortunately.
I am neither a professional photographer nor a National Geographical Magazine photographer.
More to come. :)

Great tip, thanks.:)

I downloaded the image from Flickr and worked on it a bit in LR.

The photo is very sharp as we can see.

Fantastic, that is exactly what I was trying to achieve. Thank you.

I am happy you liked what I did. :):)
(I feel this is not very English, this sentence... It just doesn't sound at all... Well I do communicate and that is very important.)

Re: Square cropped portraits (SCPs) - please post them here
Antonio, I noticed you put an @ before your name under the lady's picture. Does that mean you now have your own domain? :p

When there is nothing but harsh light what can we do ?
He was passing, walking along the street, just that.
I think it is not, not - I repeat - very sharp.
I feel the 5D is in fact a studio camera and the focus is not very fast regarding the rather old 20D.

Re: Square cropped portraits (SCPs) - please post them here
Is it perfectly sharp ?
I mean perfectly ?
I like the crop but maybe, just a tad less tight and down would give more room for the face.
Yellow canvas, perhaps...
Oh well, just my manias

Since MID-TONE of face required correction
With quick selection tool I selected Face and feather 5 pxls
In the level control I moved Mid Tone slider ( MIDDLE SLIDER ) little towards left
and withing 2 second work was done
I have 2nd version of this correction with little sharpness added., but while loading image instead of 2nd image with sharpness added... previous version was added anyhow there is very little difference between two

I like the signature but the canvas looks too "flat" (no pun intended:)) without the drop shadow.

I should say more discreet, no ?
The shadow is - I feel it now - too dense and make a more dramatic presentation.:):)

I don't like in this image the white area on the top right because the cap is also from the same color...
Thank you Alis :)
