    Depends what you mean by 'good'. I'm sometimes confused that a shot that is good technically fails to get anywhere. When I vote in these comps I look mostly at things such as composition, technical quality, imagination etc. I think a lot of voters (and this is not at all a criticism) go for something they personally 'like'. And the inescapable fact is that most people (including myself) prefer landscape shots. I'm not sure why - mostly they are pretty, non-threatening etc, but perhaps it's also something like an atavistic connection to nature, that stirs up something in us.

    Your shot is 'good' on all counts. It has a lot of verve and dynamism. The composition is excellent and it all fits together very well. I think it might look very effective blown up to the largest size it will take. I think it needs space to express itself.

    PS: I think you are a pain in the neck for beating my nice Hyacinth shot!
