From that trip, no. I have lots but they're not too great, since I shot with JPEG and I wasn't able to use Photoshop then. I could probably dig out a few more photos from the trip, I know I have a lot of them somewhere.

I have some nicer photos from a trip to Stanley Park. This photo was one of them.

Does that mean you're now shooting RAW? If so, good on you. It's the only way to go!

Perhaps Lisa, you could try to correct the perspective and get some detail from those shadows now that you can work on CS
Thank you for posting You have to dive in your safe for the old images

Hm, never thought of that, lol. I think I could do that though. It's always fun touching up on photos and whatnot. I wasn't really able to edit anything before so I might try later today.

    No problem, by the way!

Haha, yes! :P I only shoot RAW now. The quality difference (that I've seen from my photos at least) is huuuuuuge. Plus you can do tons of stuff with RAW files, I love it.

Coast is on terrestrial, I know because I can't get freeview. Nice roses though, can't say I like the backdrop of a crane nor do I like Wales much, Cornwall is the place to be.

Yes, Tenby. I walked there yesterday from a place just down the coast.

It reminds me of cross processed film images. Did you do anything special to achieve this look?
    Mike
I'm a beginner with beginner's equipment, cannon xsi with the kit lens.

I'm a big fan of the illustrator Maxfield Parrish. I find myself often trying to emulate the look of his dramatic, unreal landscapes.

I opened the RAW in PS Camera Raw 5.6
-bumped the temperature form 5300 to 5900 to make the foreground a bit more reddish/yellow
-bumped the tint from 17 to 19 (more magenta less green)
-bumped the blacks from 5 to 15 to exaggerate the contrast
-and raised the saturation slider to +18

At one time I knew what "cross process" meant but wasn't trying to achieve that look intentionally. This photo seemed to lend itself to some pretty extreme variations. This version is one of the most tame.

I don't often have people in of my photos. The figures on the rocks are what makes this photo interesting. There are actually three if you look closely. What they're doing is a mystery. In actuality this is by no means as harsh of place as it appears here. Grand Traverse Bay is incredibly clear and clean. The spit of land behind me is covered with green grasses and reeds taller than I stand and are filled with different types of birds. If anything this spot is too verdant. We've had some nasty algae blooms lately (quit fertilizing your lawns).

Gwalior, India. Shot with panoramic camera Gaoersi + Fuji SW 90/8 lens. This white stripe was caused by the camera cover, which appears to be not always closed tightly.

Thanks Soma, well it worked for me. Your edits certainly achieved an interesting result. Keep playing around, it's amazing what you can create.

    Self Serve

Here are a couple from Farm Country near where I live in Southern Ontario. Close to the city most of these stands have a vendor, but as I get farther out in the country, I am finding a lot of self serve stands.

Excellent Wendy I like photos showing people's daily lives. These photos could have been taken in the Waikato NZ a long way from Ontario - there are many similarities.

    Thanks for posting Wendy.

    Northern Ontario Wetlands

I have started to take landscapes and the attached are of my favourite wetland. In 2 and 3, I'm trying to use the shadow to show the elevation of the rock out croppings. As well, I want the photos to indicate the rugged quality of the country in my area. The EXIF's are as follows: All are shot with a D3000 using a tripod although where I cannot level it I'm using it as a monopod, and ISO of 400. 1- focal length,35mm,f9,1/160, and EC 1 step. 2- 35mm,f9,1/200,EC 1 step and 3- 35mm,f9,1320, EC 1 step. The day is cloudy with interludes of bright sunshine.

Comments and crits please on the following, one of my first attempts with my new Canon 5D Mark 2.

    Landscapes - Archive

Post-processing was via Canon's DPP and then the Gimp for some local contrast enhancement and sharpening.

    Many Thanks

    Hi David,

Well it looks sharp and with a reasonable tonal range.

I wonder if it isn't just a tad over saturated in the greens though, that can happen with LCE I find, I have been known to turn mine down a bit because of the effect.

However, the clouds might benefit from a little more contrast - the distant land looks slightly too contrasty compared to the sky.

    Cheers,
