Please refer #771 by Antonio, and you will get reply to your query...
For Level option, press CTRL + L
1st slider ( Far left side ) is for Shadow portion
2nd ( Middle slider ) is for Mid Tone
3rd ( Far right side ) slider is for High light
You can play with it, move slowly right or left to get desired tonal effect
Still if you find it difficulty, you may come back with your query

Hi Antonio,
Don't give me credit for this, you have many many more ideas

Yesterday and before dressing my pajama I saw the idea of Ashwin and I could remember that I should have told you that you could use the blending modes to get a better picture.
I thought that in the morning I would write you about this.
And here I am.
What have I done ?
1. Saved your image in tif
2. Opened your image in CS5 as smart object (OK no reason for that, just a mania)
3. Duplicate layer and change the blending mode to what you can see in the picture herewith for future adjustments of opacity and fill.
4. Then I adjusted the brightness and the contrast as you can see herewith
However, I used the button to get this adjustment only at the layer bellow.
5. Saved the image as tif and imported it in LR
6. New adjustments in sharpness, graduated filter, as you can see herewith again
and here is the final image. I re-cropped by the way at 3/5
What do you think ? :)
Yes mate, you did a good job on my image, thanks. I unfortunately haven't got Photoshop CS5, so do the best with the tools I've got. I had another little play with my image & think I've come up with something a little more pleasing to the eye. Hope it meets with everyones approval.http://i55.tinypic.com/1z1e909.jpg
Cheers....Edwin.

Thank you all for posting on this thread I started. I am sorry if sometimes I am too quick on my answers but you will understand that I need sometime for myself and my projects/themes.

@Nicola
I wouldn't erase/clone that boat but move it to the left lik e I have very quickly done here :) Maybe even a little more to the left... I don't know exactly... :)
Must a landscape always be a "landscape" ? Let's break the rules.

I don't think so. A flash wouldn't have the power you would need.
I would say precisely the contrary: darken the shadows, take advantage of the silhouettes, from the shapes and forms and the magnificent light.
If you have the chance shoot over and over the very same spot until you get a goo - really good - image. Darken the shadows, enlighten the lights :) Contrast.
Try a day with fog, if any with wider angle or further away. :)

I didn't want to resist... Minor adjustments.
Re: Landscapes - Please post them here
I like old fashioned views; without cars and so I was a lot irritated to find lots of them. So I left their numbers in :D

Re: Landscapes - Please post them here
Well here goes! This is a farm yard track in The Gers in South West France taken in October. I wanted to capture the early morning sun, the mist and silhouette the trees in the foreground with the path leading the eye towards the horizon. It was one of a series that I took of the area and probably the one that I felt captured the atmosphere best. It was an early attempt with my Nikon D90 f6.3 ISO 200 at 1/200th shot in JPEG before I discovered RAW. Comments welcome about how I could have used more appropriate settings, how the composition could have been improved and how the image could be edited. I am learning how to use Photoshop Elements 9 at the moment but at a very elementary stage so try not to be too technical!
