Hi Nicola, thank you. I have little knowledge with B&W, but gave your photo a go anyway. Your photo is nice as is and I myself could not improve upon it as I was really in your same position. Anything I tried did it no justice.

LOL! It makes me laugh as well. Sorry, no larger pictures. That picture was courtesy of my daughter and her cell phone. My daughter taught the pup to carry that around with him, why he closed his eyes I am not sure. Maybe to avoid the flash. :D

Three images and always the same way to work the negatives. A coherent work with future.
However :):) what I think you need now is a project, a theme. Whatever you want. Examples that come suddenly to my mind: clouds and sea (both in one image, or not); fog; long exposures of water in real Dutch landscape (brrrrr, I am cold just to think of it) with the Sun rising or/and falling, etc...

I give you a work: ( am I being too bold ? ) Show us 2 no, 3 good images like the last one but better, much better. Carefully done. With feeling not as an obligation. :)
Shoot 20 for example, and get 3 of them. Shot at the same time everyday or not. :rolleyes: Just find a criteria and follow it. Drink your coffee and think about this. :)
Why is the garbage bin in the second picture. ? :o
Now you can tell that I am not always nice :):)

What’s somebody from Winkleigh, Devon do in Cooper Pedy? I have an expedition planned out there around July/August this year, weather pemitting.

I just love the harshness and colour of the outback and this capture it well. My only comments are to straighten the horizon and maybe a bit of contrast enhancement to bring out the colours more. Having said that you may have added contrast but make sure you choose sRGB as the colour mode to post on the web or the colours can desaturate a bit.

The image you see came straight out of the camera, an eight year old Nikon Coolpix 4500 with 4mp. I spent September and October 2010 travelling alone around the eastern side of Australia in Greyhound buses using a 13,000km bus ticket.

I had not noticed the wonky horizon before.

If you stay in the motel at Coober Pedy, please say hello to Amber, the receptionist, for me.

my eyes have fallen in mistake... due to the fact that the house wall isn't vertical (the house is leaning) and so I've not checked the curch columns for exemple...

I shoot these in the neighborhood where I live, so no sea in miles
have a cup of coffee atm, and im thinking and drinking my cup of coffee
the style i created, I want to extend it further, and always try to shoot better pictures then the last one
which is unfortunately not always so, but at least i try
on my bike is not easy to find interesting locations near by in this weather
can not wait for the spring, to try new techniques
dont like long exposures of water, water starts to look like ice
i like water to look like water, so no long exposure for me

Nicola, this certainly does give a good feeling of one of those hot, misty days - very evocative of a summer spent on the sea, but for me, the yacht itself feels a little bit "constrained" by the way you have framed it, as it has no-where to go. Another interpretation would be something like this.....

......where there is a clear space in front of the yacht for it to sail into. Do you see what I mean? :)
