That's stunning Edwin!
hi everybody
I'm back in this thread, it's quite calm nearby, so I'm posting an old image... sigh I haven't had many chance to shot with my camera last weeks, so I'm looking in my archive..
this is not one of my most beatiful picture but I think that I will learn more from the pictures with more errors...
what's wrong in this picture? the horizon in the mid? could be but change its position leads to cut the edge of the mountain or the bottom of the baywatch's () tower..
perhaps the blueish of the background?
perhaps there are too many subject (wood tower, sea, the city, the mountains..)
how should be a better composition?
thanks!!
bye
"don't swim!"
My interpretation Nicola
This is the way I would have got this photo if I had been there.
The flags and all that stuff at 1/3 of the frame with quite some field on the right.
I should have cloned the whiter large area on the right to match the other area of the sand. I mean near and beneath the shadow.
It would have been fantastic if there were no foot prints on the beach.
We can't have everything can we ? In spite of trying hard
Perhaps if you had framed a larger view you also would have the shadow inside the frame.
Let me make you a silly question which reveals my ignorance Nicola. Are you a male or a female ? I was more in doubt after reading this. Nicola, you don't have to answer And don't laugh of me

Vandenberg
Don't you ever think that because you are my fan ( what the heck does that involve ? ) that I am going to say only nice things about your images. On the contrary.
And curious... I think you are a male in spite of your name telling me absolutely nothing about this matter. Well, just a silly thought. Let's move on.
Here you have Vandenberg, two images which may be part of your theme / project. The same subject, the same treatment, similar scenario, the same meaning, the same message in two different and however similar approches of the subject.
Others may see the two images under a different perspective and have other visons of them but that is normal, living room for various reading of the images according to one's cultural backgrounds.
The only thing that I don't like so much is the bright area on the left of the first image.
I admit however, that someone else may come and say the opposite. But that fact would be good as the image evoques feeling and emotions.
There is something else I also don't like so much: the rather dark corner of the bottom left of the second image. I only saw it now after re-reading and looking at the images over and over.
Why do these puppets have those colors ? Oh I see... very patriotic of you Vandenberg. These are the colours of the Dutch flag but horizontally placed.
Hi Antonio,
thanks for your analysis, I'll 'double-read' it this afternonn in order to put in field your suggestions.
at the moment I'm going to answer to your question (because ask is lawful, answering is kindness!) .
I'm Male.
and for sure your question isn't so silly and you aren't so ignorant: Only in italian there are male's names ending with 'a'. often not italian people makes me the same question... you are not the firt, and you will not the last
PS at htis moment I'm at the office, and three of my closer collegues are named Andrea, and are all male!

Thank you Bernard for posting here
When I read that it was a loch I thought immediately that you were referring to a lake in Scotland. Google told me I was right
Personally I like your image with all this blue and the fog in between the hills. However, I would sugest two things here. One is that you clone the bushes at the left and the other is that you give more room to the bottom when you frame. Oh yes, you can also clone the little bush at the right, the one that pops up on the fog.
I tried this here but it has so poor quality... I could not make it better. Sorry My fault.

Cheers Antonio,I am still a complete beginner at photography, but slowly picking up a lot of tips on this forum, also we don,t have lakes in Bonnie Scotland just Lochs, there is one called Lake of Menteith but I think it was man made, not 100% sure though...thanks for your comments Bernard
I too am grateful for all the tips you fellows give out, thanks again for your help.
Cheers......Ed.
Thank you Ed for posting this nice image here
It is well composed, however in my monitor the sky looks a bit strange in terms of colour, I mean the blue doesn't look very natural. Perhaps it is the effect you wish to accomplish for the final frame
Have you been paying with the hues ?
Perhaps it's got something to do with me tonemapping it with Photomatix Antonio. But to my eye the colours are correct, that's generally how skys look in the land down under, except for when it's raining cats & dogs.
Cheers........Edwin.
Very dry mate, there was no water here a couple of months ago. Then we had a few weeks of sometimes torrential rain & flooding like never seen before. It will cost our country billions of dollars to fix destroyed roads, towns, railroads etc. Let's hope & pray we never see it like that again. The image has a colourcast as you say Antonio, due to photomatix no doubt. Perhaps some day they will perfect their software & overcome that indiscretion.
