Steve, SteveI am not a professional. I am ... what am I ? A concerned amateur, an addicted - not to drugs - but to photography and I prize well composed images. At least well composed pictures to me that is.
You asking yourself at this point what is that ? A well composed image ?
It is supposed to be an image which pleases you with the culture you have acquired during your life time.
I just poped this definition just like that, on the end of my fingers and on the flow of my conscientiousness. Oh how philosophical I am tonight.
Steve. Sorry my friend. Rotate that photo making verticals to be verticals. The tower is not in Pizza is it ?
Please, if you would be so kind as to re-shoot - hello Colin- you would do it with a CPF - if you have one - and opening that aperture as much as possible and focusing on the sculpture. More back wards please, more room inside the frame. Don't use a wide angle. Use a moderate tele or a prime at 150 mm for example.
The idea is to provoke a great difference between the two objects: the sculpture and the tower with the trees in between with the building clearly out of focus.
Use even a NDF if you got one to easier things on the aperture if you have not the CPF.

Cheers Antonio,: I suppose because the tower is a sort of beer tower and there is only a few of them I gave it special status, forgetting that not everybody knows what they are. I will slap myself repeatedly and write out a thousand lines.cheers
I'm practicing my PP work tonight, hence the three offerings in three threads.
This photo was taken one morning last August at the Balmoral Grist Mill near Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. The mill is still in operation as a heritage site during the summer months. I had my camera and tripod set up on the flat rocks in the stream that flows in the foreground of this photo. The purpose, at the time, was to learn how to slow the water. My very patient husband was on hand to make sure I didn't slip on the rocks and to guide me back to the bank.
It would be nice to banish those large pieces of driftwood, but my Photo Shopping is not up to that!
Canon Rebel xti (400D) 1/6(with tripod). f/11. ISO 100. 75mm (I think I was using the 75-300 kit lens).
C&C always welcome.
Myra
Thank you Steve for calling me ignorant !
(I am just kidding I know that is not your intention)
So, I change your mission:
Get that sculpture without the tower. Be aware of too white areas on it. Place trees, leaves in front, get that sculpture through the bushes, whatever but get it with depth, enhancement.![]()
Good work.![]()
Beautiful shot there, Keith! Beautiful soft colours, and the mist is nice too.
Nice image Keith
Thank you for posting![]()
