    Absolutely Chris. Absolutely

    @Vandenberg and Nicola
I will be careful and kinder in the future not only to you but to everyone.
Sorry guys, just my nature. When I get older - older, really older - I will try to change and be a better person.

But let me tell you one story, a short one.
Here in Setubal there is a photographer who is protected by an institution. His images are disgusting. Really lousy. Perfectly common. Anyone could do it.

The thing is that he is commented by everyone as being very good because people are afraid of social problems and of being seen as someone who says bad things about the other's work.

It' s like belonging to a political party expecting to have a better job in a near future. You don't say bad things about the political in chief/boss or he may get you in trouble or even not give you a promotion.
So, the mediocrity is applauded. The political goes to the top. No one dares to say that the king is naked.
I am not sure if you get the idea. Like Vanderberg I say: my English is not too good.

It's like Gadafi: he was the best some months ago received by almost anyone and now - that he is in trouble - they want to take him to court. Disgusting He has been a dictator all the time, hasn't he ?
    -
This is my posture. I try to say politely what I think of any image. But I also like to read less favorable comments on my images because this is a way to learn.
    Enough said.
    Have a nice week end

Let me be honest this time again.
You are moving away a little bit from your style or what you are used to show us, mainly on the second image. Your style is more like the ones on the left side if I am seing things correctly. So, on this matter you have a negative point. More Vandenberg: I think you should go back to your style.
However, I personally like best the images on the right but I don't understand the black stripes on top and bottom.
It is also true that the chosen format/proportions are better now but there again, you are away from your usual style which in fact, you should keep and implement as it is your own and quite interesting.
Well, and this is it Vandenberg
And... I almost forgot, removing the post was a good option indeed
And yourself what do you think about this ?
Is this blur made in CS or in camera or both ? I think in both: on the capture and on the CS. Am I right ?
And this white halo all over ? Well, don't tell us about all your secrets

And thank you for the work done Vandenberg And for the posting also

    Re: Natural Bridge

Here is a shot of the arch form the cave below the waterfall in other image . This was taken about Dec 16 th 2010. I selected a dull day late in the afternoon about 5.15 pm for this image so as to control the daylight out side the cave. A single nikon sb 28 flash was used on mt Sony 850 camera which was set to HDR bracket . The camera takes one image of the sceen and them makes a HDR bracket if the single image. THis has a number of advantages in these situations of moving water and the reflections of highlights on the walls. The exposure was based to give highlight detail and the contrast on the camera was set lower to capture the detail . The Saturation was let higher. DXO was used to make the image as it will read the camera meta data for landscape preset.
    Hope you like it.

Yesterday evening in the woods. Two flashes on wireless, one attatched to tree with bungee cord. By the time I'd finished the insects were starting to bite, the light was fading and I'd worn a little path between the camera and the flashes trying to balance the whole thing. I may reshoot this one, next time with my glamorous assistent to adjust the flash output for me, it's got to be worth a nice meal or washing up for a week

    Re: Natural Bridge

blur or depth of field is camera only, 50mm at 1.4 on a fullframe gives you a nice bokeh
the rest is done by cs5, i like the movie like wide screen stripes, gives a better composition

but indeed, I like my old style more

Merci Paul d'avoir placé une image ici
Indeed I like your image. And - if you care to re-shoot as you say to get a meal, a washing up for the week or... whatever - I would like to suggest you something. Here it goes:
The ambiance of the florest with those flowers look very nice and captivating. The beam of light you were able to make is nice. Perhaps a bit too tight but OK. Could you place a model on that spot ? I would dare to suggest a naked one laying down on the ground parallel to us. You could even try to make different shots with different compositions not with one tree from one side and another one from the other side no, but only with one at the foreground but never "forgetting" to place your model as an horizontal line to balance with the vertical ones which are the trees.
If you can't get a nude model - her face is not necessarily to be shown - get a child. No, sorry don't get a child. I thought so but it is not convenient as it doesn't fit in the mood of the image.
Is any fog - fake or not - possible ? That would give a sense of mistery to the photo...
Thank you for posting here Paul
I wonder if a black and white wouldn't be nice ?

It looks like you have a recipe for your images. That is good.

I understand that with all those layers you have some huge files. The other day I had a file with some layers as smart objects, some adjustment layers and some stuff, I reached 1 Gb !

I was saved by my grand 27" Mac with 2.8 GHz Intel Core 17 and it's 16 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory. Uff It is fast enough

Thanks Antonio. A nude model would be a good idea - it would have to be me though so best to forget that idea. I could probably put together a reasonable fog - the idea did occur to me.
Black and white isn't good, I tried but it's way to ... busy, no composition there for mono. I did take about a 100 shots though, one or two look like possible black and whites. It'll take a few days to narrow down the choice so don't hold your breath Maybe later in the week ?
