Here is a shot of the arch form the cave below the waterfall in other image . This was taken about Dec 16 th 2010. I selected a dull day late in the afternoon about 5.15 pm for this image so as to control the daylight out side the cave. A single nikon sb 28 flash was used on mt Sony 850 camera which was set to HDR bracket . The camera takes one image of the sceen and them makes a HDR bracket if the single image. THis has a number of advantages in these situations of moving water and the reflections of highlights on the walls. The exposure was based to give highlight detail and the contrast on the camera was set lower to capture the detail . The Saturation was let higher. DXO was used to make the image as it will read the camera meta data for landscape preset.
Hope you like it.
You can find an added image of the outside of the cave at
Please read here how to post an image in C in Colour if you please

Hi This is my image taken at about 5.15 on Dec 16th 2010. Great minds think alike.
It was taken with a Sony 850 with a 24 mm lens. With a HDR bracket. this is when the camera exposes one frame then clones two additional images with w HDR attached. This stops the highlight moving beteween frames
A flash was added to the exposure Spot metered of the water
Thank you for posting here
I don't know - and does it really matter ? - if the photo you posted is deliberately overexposed on the lighter parts and if you have or not introduced some kind of vignetting. You have used strong colours which I personally like.
If this image would be integrated in a collection/theme all with the same kind of "treatment" I would clearly aprove what you are doing.
But as you announce yourself as new to photography, I would suggest you begin with a more classical approach. Perhaps this is not the best advice. Perhaps you should begin as you are by "treating" your photos this way and go on on this trend.
What do I know ?
I am no teach and I don't have any experience about the way you should approach photography. But, in spite of being an amateur, I think you should begin from the ... beginning. After all, before talk you were just pronouncing mammy and daddy, right ?
Do you have more images like this one ?
The composition is not bad but perhaps you could try to shoot with something in the foreground. Try it IYP
Cheers
I was going to ask you the other day Steve, why do you use your canvas un-balanced. Obviously because you like it
If you look the image at the distance it is nice. Indeed it is. Keep the style if I may call it so.
It is a nice image Steve. Perhaps a little more on top and a little less on the bottom ?!
It has your usual style. I mean the picture
Thank you for posting Steve, once more and for reading I lines I write You do read them don't you ?

One from the forest visit the other night. Two exposures one with the camera moving, nearly forgot this one (maybe that would've been a GOOD thing) until I found a shot with blurry trees. Just about to delete it when I remembered that it was supposed to go with its neighbour. At the moment I quite like the impressionistic view of the forest it gives, I'll leave it alone for a few days and see what else needs doing when I revisit it. Still looking for that nude Antonio - if you have one spare .....

Yes of course Antonio.
Hi!
I'm posting the same image of mini comp 309, 'cause I would like to have some C&C about it. It is a crop, so I can change something (obviously I won't change the image in the competition! )
do you think this picture is too unbalanced to the left side (due to the brighter areas)? should I reduce the sky and include more floor at the bottom?
thanks very much for your comments!
have a nice day/night
N
Nicola, the version you have put in the comp. is totally beautiful. Don't change a thing. And thank you for posting it.
Best Regards, Chris.
Looks a bit less .... black and white Edwin I processed it for black and white from the start so the colour balance is all to hell. In colour I guess the contrast of the white flowers against the forest floor would be a lot less but I could get something from it I guess as an exercise. Thanks
Nice panorama by the way. I'd have liked to see more of that tree on the left but you'd have lost the format and messed up the composition - plus I guess it's a good thing that I want to see even more of it. Lovely mood sort of an Australian icon - for me anyway.
Thanks Nicola. I moved the camera during one of the exposures to try to make the trees 'streak'. Took a few attempts as the two images had to align to some degree. I had to crop some of the bottom where they didn't match but I'd probably have cropped round about that point anyway.
