This was taken when I was crazy for HDR and using GND filters. Shows how much I didn't know using both GND8 and HDR in 2ev steps.

The ev span reported with picturenaut is 10.5 ev with Cokin GND 8 hard grad on.
    Hello Steve
As it is for a competition and it has been re-processed I am going to make some nice comments

I am sorry you have not framed a little bit more to the left. But even so, you should:
    1. Clone that bench unless it has any relation with the monument
    2. Clone the house at the far end at left just behind the monument
    3. Get rid of the red area on the right side of the monument
    4. I think - but you have to try to see how it looks - that the "shadow" of the picture would be nicer if it was to the right and to the bottom and not to the left and to the bottom as it is.
I am expecting to see the new image soon Steve. Will you please be kind enough as to make it if you ever agree with me that is.

    "Foggy Morning reflections"

Another from the Villenueve area, Qld. I took 29 images that morning & saved this one as my favourite.

Cor; the only thing I can't agree with is remove the red area. However, I think a photo is a photo and shouldn't pretend to be different; so if there is ugly artifacts that move, eg car, move them, otherwise do your best to obscure them.

cheers, don't know how to move shadows yet, but it is only for amateurs competition and proceeds to charity.

Re: Landscapes - Tree - As the Light Escapes Into the Night

Almost straight from the camera to this page...minor retouch. I've been trying to capture this tree in the most perfect light for nearly a year now, and I thnk this gets pretty close.

I had a go Antonio, but it is too hard for me: I noticed non of the frames contained peeling paint and that the house was a windowless shed. This I found was due to the missing curve file and at first I just put in standard curve but got a lot of noise. So I chose a crv file from an earlier photo of the same thing.
This was ok but for extreme posturisation which I tried to remove with a blur brush, thus leaving a halo.

Then I found another massive error; the HDR steps were really 1ev. Cannot get more embarrassing than that, so I did it yet again with an old crv or curve file and 1ev bias. I'm not doing it again even though the bench now stands out more.

Let me give you my humble opinion on your shot. After all you are the teacher, not me.
Even if the image has not followed the so called rules, it looks fine to me. Indeed rules are - sometimes - to be broken (depending of course on the importance of those very rules).
Personally I would get more detail from the lower part of the picture and would - definitively clone the branches of the tree on the right enhancing the relative symmetry of the frame.
Looking closely and with a bit more attention I would also clone the thin branches at the bottom right hiding the water, which are disturbing regardless their minor importance.
This would show more ripples in the sequence of the others on the left if you know what I mean...

And that is it. I hope this time you won't get mad and me and erase your picture. Peace. Peace.

Sunrise through the trees, West Bengal, India

This was taken on an overcast morning when the sun refused to show up till fairly late. But, then all of a sudden the sun came out, and this is what I saw.

Perhaps Manolito you could try to work a bit your picture on the computer to get a more interesting effect.

Perhaps you can increase the detail introducing some sharpness. You could also get more detail from the water.

The place looks nice with all those plants floating

Interesting image Donny. Thank you for posting here

It looks like an endless road at down.

I would place the end of the road, not in that position but at the thirds. I would also try to get a bit detail from the shadows on the right.
And to finish with, I would choose a crop more predominantly horizontal, like 1:2
Have you used a filter or is it just natural light ?
