In my humble opinion - yes I read about lens baby - we (people who photograph more seriously) should concentrate in a style so someone can say: "This is a Vandenbergs image", "This is Antonio's style", "This is Nicola's".
That should be our primary goal.
Not easy however

So, again in my humble opinion Nicola, don't wonder looking for the Holly Grail as it doesn't exist. Don't look for that lens which makes the perfect bokeh, which exists in fact but is out of question.
Look at yourself, at what you have as equipment, of what you can do with it, explore it to the end. Don't blame the equipment, blame yourself if anything goes wrong.
However, keep an eye on what is going on around you.
Try do define a style. Difficult job. Very difficult. I am trying. I really think I don't have one. I am struggling to.

To finalize and again in my humble opinion, do one type of photography you like. Concentrate on it. Inspire yourself. Don't copy. But look at as many exquisite photographic magazines as you can. Silvershotz of course or LensWork. I am also a subscriber of this on the extended version. Just received one today

don't be sorry, there aren't any reasons.. you are explaining your thoughts, and I can decide how much you can influence my own thoughts
by the way, I agree with you, and i'm not looking for a lens baby, since my first steps on photography lead me to deep DOF... or, at least in this month I prefer deep DOF... I still have to find my style and to learn how to fully use my kit.
reading your words about blur I consequently thought at lens baby, since it's a kind of "crative lens" that could be interesting for blur effects...

I don't like overcooked, cartoony looking HDR'S either Yvonne. Sometimes they work for me & other times I propel them into cyberspace. That's why I love digital photography so much, if you aren't satisfied with how an image looks, click on the delete button & it's gone forever.

High Dynamic Range Vandenberg. Photomatix Pro would no doubt be the best of the best for editing them in my humble opinion, as my mate Antonio would say.

Going through some old photos and found this that i took last year with my coolpix s3000 then did some pp in photoshop.This was taken at the canoe pick-up point on juniper run in the ocala national forest. C&C

It was regarding the "sunrise @ shorncliff" image as was in the title of the reply.

I am sure the modification of a camera into the infrared area is a most interesting option. What I don't like is the fact that one has to carry 3 cameras instead of 2 and sometimes, the back complains. I mean, our back, our column.
I usually - or frequently - walk with two cameras what, after a few hours, is painful Age you know...

Hi Antonio, my first modified IR camera was a Sony Cyber Shot W200 point and shoot. It takes amazinglingly good shots for being so tiny. And carrying it around with my other two cameras wasn't a big deal, although believe me, I hear you on carrying around 2 cameras and back aches.

Last fall I did make the leap to a 35mm camera modified for IR and I now have three cameras in my backpack.

I try to bring only what I think I will need, but sometimes I really believe I need them all. While that means I have what I need when I want it, it does do some wear and tear on the shoulders and back. But when I look at the image that I would have missed had I not brought one or another camera, or lens, or monopod, in the long run I think it's worth the sore muscles. The ache will go away with a little linament rub, but the image will be around for a lot longer.

It is a nice image Ron with nice reflexions on the water.
As usual, I would like more leaves in the upper foreground and more tree on the left to give more depth of field to the scene
